Of Being 16, On Friends, On Books

While I was scanning for clothes at some store, a group of teens went inside. After a while I heard someone say, “Wow! Muka ka nang Dauntless!” (Wow! You now look like a Dauntless!”) My ears stinged, not out of jealousy for the Dauntless look (Refer to Divergent) but most likely out of curiosity. “Grabe kamuka mo na si Tris!” (“You look like Tris!”)

I don’t know what I felt- a mixture of hope, curiosity and competition, but back when I was 16 I was reading Romeo and Juliet for the feels of it and none of my girl friends fan girl with me.

Good to know some kids read decent literature these days. I see some hope for this generation.
